THE LOFOTEN SERIES - BERGSMO IN COLABORATION WITH NORDPHOTOGRAPHY
THE LOFOTEN SERIES
This year I've started an exciting collaboration with Elisabeth Aanes, at Nordphotography. read more about it:
Join artic photographer Trym Ivar Bergsmo on our new workshop in Lofoten. Our goals is for you to capture the artic landscape, but in a way that is true to your creative vision and style. And to create a cohesive portfolio of images from the North, ready to share on your website.
Partner in crime
Elisabeth N Aanes, Nordphotography
We have joined forces with the acclaimed Norwegian Photographer Trym Ivar Bergsmo, who have been photographing the Lofoten Iceland for decades. Trym is born in this area and have first hand knowledge of the culture, the landscape, the light, and the seasons. His partner in crime on this workshop will be NORDphotography’s own founder Elisabeth N Aanes, who is also from the Northen part of Norway. Elisabeth will contribute with her knowledge as a curator, gallerist and mentor for photographer, and help participants create a cohesive portfolio of images that could work together as a portfolio, selection for an exhibit, or a photo story to publish.
Which means we will have two goals for our participants.
1. To capture the artic landscape, but in a way that is true to your creative vision and style. It is easy to be blown away by the magnitude of the landscape and the special artic light and just capture what is in front of you. The challenge try will give our participants is to experience the landscape in such a way that it becomes a canvas for you to create your own artwork from.
2. To create a cohesive portfolio of images from the North, ready to share on your website. We want each participant to leave this workshop with a selection of images that could work together in a portfolio.
We will spend 5 full days (6 nights) exploring Lofoten. The light and the weather at this time of year is dramatic and unusual, and in combination with the wild and varied Lofoten landscape, you will have the perfect backdrop to expand your vision, and create new and exciting work.
We will conduct group excursions, but also give participant time to explore on their own. On the group outings Trym will demonstrate how to capture light, form, movement and spend time with each participants to help them get the expression they are envisioning. We will have group lectures and critic sessions but also one-on-one follow ups for each participant to help strengthen your creative vision, and select images that set you apart from the crowd.
Participants are recommended to rent a car while in Lofoten, so you are free to explore the area of your chosen. We will open a Facebook group for this class so you can coordinate with you fellow participant about car rentals and travel schedules. Both Trym, and Elisabeth will bring their own cars to Lofoten, and you are welcome to share the ride with either of us, however that might limit your flexibility and you might not get to see all the areas you want. You will be expected to chip in for gass.
Our base will be at Reinefjorden Sjøhus, which offers hig end fisherman's cabins and seahouses both with breathtaking views of the sea and sky. Each cabin/seahouse has room for 3 participant, single accommodation, with shared bathrooms. The cabin/ seahouses has fully equipped kitchens and a living room
Students are responsible for their own food. The cabin/ seahouses has fully equipped kitchens, and we recommended to stop by the supermarked on the way to the cabin, to stock up on breakfast and lunch supplies. We also recommend to pack lunch to bring with you on our field trips. For dinner options, there are restaurants in the area who offer delicious local food.
